13.5.1 STIRRING THE COOLANT
optimum state : stir the coolant oil permanently and pour it slowly into the lukewarm water when stirring the
coolant oil. The mixing will be ideal and you make the right coolant.
13.5.2 PROPORTION OF OIL AND WATER MIXTURE
Proportion of oil and water mixture comes from the recommendation of the producer of machines and
producer of blades.
General rule : the basic coolant for frequently used constructional steel is blended as follows : min. 1 qt of oil
for 10 qt of water ( 1 : 10). When cutting hard, legated steel we recommend to increase the concentration of
the coolant up to 2,5 qt of oil for 10 qt of water.
If you need to add the coolant, always pour allready mixed coolant. To pour water and then estimated
amount of the oil it is a very bad procedure.
13.5.3 LIFETIME OF THE COOLANT
The lifetime of the coolant is influenced by many factors.
- coolant rinses oil / liquids which protect surface of bars to be cut. These liquids can destroy the coolant.
- Hydraulic or gear oil can leak into the coolant. These oils will make a layer on the coolant level which helps
to destroy the cutting coolant. In this case in necessary to change the coolant and repair the leaking of
hydraulic of gear oils immediately.
Contact a recycling facility to have the coolant recycled properly to protect the environment.
Do not dump the coolant on land or dispose of it in waterways.
13.6 CHANGE OF GEAR OIL
Change and filling the gearbox by lubricating oil is made at buyers responsibility.
There is a longlife synthetic oil filled in the gearboxes : it is not necessary to make any service or filling the oil
during average 15.000 hours of lifetime. If it is necessary to change or fill the oil use only synthetic oil. Do not
use mineral oil in any case.
For the safe operation of the gearboxes with the oil ISO VG 320, there is recommended surrounding
temperature from 50 to 130 °F.
Check the gaskets regularly for possible oil leaks.
Recycle used oil. Contact a recycling facility to have the coolant recycled properly to protect
the environment. Do not dump the coolant on land or dispose of it in waterways.
13.6.1 TECHNICAL MAINTENANCE OF GEARBOXES
To ensure suitable working conditions we recommend to follow these maintenance intervals :
- according to the working conditions: to eliminate the dust by vacuuming it.
- Every 500 working hours or every month: visual check of the oil sealing and possible oil leaking
- Every 3000 working hours of every 6 months: check of the oil sealing and its exchange if it is worn out.
- Every 5 years : exchange of syntetic oil
