The set pressure level
is not achieved or the
differential pressure
between inspiration and
expiration is too low.
There is leakage in the
cuff.
Inflate the cuff and
check it for leakage.

Check the breathing
circuit for leaking con-
nections. Ensure that
the breathing valve has
been installed correctly.

The measured expira-
tory tidal volume VTe is
approximately 50 %
lower than the inspira-
tory tidal volume VTi.
Eliminate leakage in
the breathing circuit
and/or on the patient
port.
Use a new breathing
circuit.
