• A general overview of the protection functions available with the EMR-3MP0 can be
found as a function diagram: ā•šā•ā–· ā€œ1 Functional Overviewā€. Note that the availability
of some functions depends on the ordered device type. See ā•šā•ā–· ā€œCatalog Codes for
the EMR-3MP0ā€ for the available variants.
• The EMR-3MP0 uses a special modular concept for its settings, measured values and
signals. Although this concept of modules and parameters is simple and straight-
forward it is strongly recommended, especially for beginners, to make oneself
familiar with it: ā•šā•ā–· ā€œModules, Settings, Signals and Valuesā€
•
PowerPort-E is the operating program that can be installed on a Windows PC. It can
connect to the EMR-3MP0, and it can be used to do con󰊎guration work and retrieve
data from the EMR-3MP0. A few introductory words are here: ā•šā•ā–· ā€œPowerPort-Eā€;
however, for a detailed description you can consult the full PowerPort-E Manual as a
separate document.
• The hardware aspects (e. g. dimension diagrams and connection diagrams) can be
found here: ā•šā•ā–· ā€œHardwareā€
• Various Security settings might have to be done, because the EMR-3MP0 is delivered
with no access restrictions and a very simple standard password that does not o󰊍er
any safety at all. Unless you are sure that no special access restrictions are required
for your application, it is strictly recommended to check the ā€œSecurityā€ chapter: ā•šā•ā–·
ā€œSecurityā€
• A few settings are related to the EMR-3MP0 itself: ā•šā•ā–· ā€œDevice Parametersā€
• The various communication protocols that the EMR-3MP0 makes available for
communicating with the substation are described in ā•šā•ā–· ā€œCommunication Protocolsā€.
•
The multitude of protection functions is described in sub-chapters within the
ā€œProtection Functionsā€ chapter: ā•šā•ā–· ā€œProtective Elementsā€. Keep in mind that there is
one ā€œmaster protectionā€ module that governs all protection functions: ā•šā•ā–·
ā€œProtection (Prot) Moduleā€. And furthermore, it is not only important to know how to
activate a protection module, it is also essential to know about the blocking of a
module: ā•šā•ā–· ā€œBlockingsā€
• Various kinds of events (disturbances, detected faults, etc.) are recorded by the
EMR-3MP0, so that you need to know how to access these records: ā•šā•ā–· ā€œRecordersā€
• The EMR-3MP0 o󰊍ers programmable logic equations for programming inputs,
outputs, blocking of protective functions, and custom logic functions in the relay:
ā•šā•ā–· ā€œProgrammable Logicā€
• Commissioning aspects for the EMR-3MP0: ā•šā•ā–· ā€œCommissioningā€. But note that
protection-speci󰊎c commissioning descriptions are sub-chapters within the
respective chapters for the protection functions.
• Technical data, tolerances, and applicable standards: ā•šā•ā–· ā€œTechnical Data
