5. Configuration of totalizers 1-3:
Promass 83 has 3 totalizers. The following example applies to totalizer 1.
• In the “CHANNEL” parameter, select the measured variable (e.g. mass flow) to be
transmitted to the PROFIBUS master as the totalizer value 1:
BASIC FUNCTION (G) → PROFIBUS PA (GCA) → TOTALIZER (613)...
... → SELECT TOTALIZER (6130) → Select: TOTALIZER 1
... → CHANNEL (6133) → Select: MASS FLOW
or enter the ID: 277
Possible settings: see following table.
• Enter the desired totalizer units:
BASIC FUNCTION (G) → PROFIBUS DP/PA (GBA) → TOTALIZER (613)
→ UNIT TOTALIZER (6134)
• Configure totalizer status, e.g. totalise:
BASIC FUNCTION (G) → PROFIBUS DP/PA (GBA) → TOTALIZER (613)
→ SET TOTALIZER (6135) → Select: TOTALISE
• Set the totalizer mode, e.g. for balancing:
BASIC FUNCTION (G) → PROFIBUS DP/PA (GBA) → TOTALIZER (613)
→ TOTALIZER MODE (6137) → Select: BALANCE
The following settings are possible:
6. Select the operating mode (GSD file) which should be used for cyclic communication with the
PROFIBUS master.
BASIC FUNCTION (G) → PROFIBUS PA (GCA) → OPERATION (614)
→ SELECTION GSD (6140) → Select:
– MANUFACT. SPEC. (factory setting): Promass 83 measuring device is operated in the
manufacturer-specific mode.
– MANUFACT V2.0: Promass 83 is used as the replacement for the previous Promass 63
model (compatibility mode).
– GSD PROFILE: Promass 83 is operated in the Profile mode.

For PROFIBUS network configuration, make sure that the right device master file (GSD file) of
the measuring device is used for the selected operating mode:
