Check all linear scales for soiling. Depending on
the degree of soiling, do the following:
If no dirt, fingerprints, grease etc: do not
clean the linear scales (extensive cleaning of
the scales can damage them).
A minor soiling can be detected: use a soft,
lint-free lens cleaning tissue (must be a
tissue specially prepared for cleaning lenses
and other sensitive surfaces, recommended
is the microfibre eyeglass cloth out of the
SP26/MAIN05 Tool-Kit for Maintenance
Tasks) to clean the linear scales. Do not use
any solvents.
A persistent contamination can be detected:
use a soft, lint-free lens cleaning tissue
(must be a tissue specially prepared for
cleaning lenses and other sensitive surfaces,
recommended is the microfibre eyeglass
cloth out of the SP26/MAIN05 Tool-Kit for
Maintenance Tasks) lightly dampened with
Ethanol or Isopropanol to clean the linear
scales.
Be very careful, the optical measuring system is
very sensitive, do not scratch the linear scales
because of coarse particles of dust and dirt are
on it.
4.6.6 P&P Head Checking
Initial Information
The head cleaning is not a complete
maintenance but only an intermediate service. A
complete maintenance is scheduled on a yearly
base. Because the operation of the Pick and
Place head can vary widely it is nearly impossible
to predict a correct maintenance interval.
Therefore this maintenance includes also the
cleaning and lubricating of spindle and shaft,
which is integral part of the yearly maintenance.
A 'ZT element' includes the whole mechanism
for one Z linear axis and one Theta rotation axis
(translation and rotation axes), see picture.
