4.5.11.3. Saving a User Defined Preset
There are three user-defined presets that can be saved in the 5601MSC.
To save the current configuration of the 5601MSC to a preset, use the
Save preset 1, Save preset 2, Save preset 3 menu items. Once a preset is
saved, it will be stored in flash even when the power is removed from the
unit. To save a preset, press SELECT on the desired preset menu item.
Caution: The current configuration of the unit will be saved to the selected
pres
et, overwriting the settings of any preset that was saved previously.
The preset will be saved immediately when the SELECT button is pressed.

4.5.12. Configuring the IP Settings for the CONTROL and TIME Ethernet Ports
The following sections will provide the user with instructions on how to configure the CONTROL and
TIME Ethernet ports. The two ports must be configured to different subnets. Although both ports
support SNMP and NTP protocols, the TIME port should be placed on a network with as little traffic as
possible, ideally only time protocol related packets. The CONTROL network should be used for SNMP
monitoring and control.
4.5.12.1. Setting up the IP Address for the CONTROL Ethernet Port
This menu item sets the unique Internet Protocol (IP) address of the
CONTROL Ethernet port. An example of a private (internal) reserved IP
address is 172.21.X.X or 192.168.X.X.
The IP address chosen should be an unused address tha
with your networking scheme.
4.5.12.2. Setting up the Internet Protocol Subnet Mask for the CONTROL Ethernet Port
This menu item defines the IP subnet mask for the CONTROL Ethernet
port. Specifically, this parameter defines all the IP addresses that the
5601MSC can directly communicate with on the CONTROL port, without
having to go through the gateway. When the 5601MSC responds to an IP
address outside its subnet it will for
ward the packet to the gateway
address, if enabled. This parameter is usually set to 255.255.255.0 for a
private network.
4.5.12.3. Setting up the IP Address for the TIME Ethernet Port
This menu item sets the unique Internet Protocol (IP) address of the TIME
Ethernet port. An example of a private (internal) reserved IP address is
172.21.X.X or 192.168.X.X.
The IP address chosen should be an unused address that is compatible
with your networking scheme.
