Initial Configuration
Before the ETERNUS CS800 is operational, you must configure the system through the
setup wizard. You must also configure your backup software.
Configuring the ETERNUS CS800 consists of two major steps. See the following subsec-
tions for detailed instructions for completing each step:
1. "Accessing and Completing the Setup Wizard" on page 81
2. "LAN Cabling" on page 92
I
You will need a service laptop and an Ethernet cable to complete the initial setup.
V
If you attempt to install multiple ETERNUS CS800 systems at the same time, an IP
address conflict can occur because each system is configured with the same
default IP address (10.1.1.1). To avoid this problem, install one system and
configure it to use a different IP address before you connect another system to the
network.
Accessing and Completing the Setup Wizard
To access the ETERNUS CS800 setup wizard:
1. Turn on the ETERNUS CS800 system by pressing the power buttons located on the
front of the chassis (see figure 56) in the following order:
a) Turn on the DX80 base module.
I
If DX80 expansion modules are installed, they are turned on automatically.
b) Wait until the READY LEDs of all storage modules glow green.
c) Turn on the RX300 S5 server.
