NAS configuration
The ETERNUS CS800 presents its disk storage as NAS (network attached storage)
shares. Before you can use the ETERNUS CS800 for backups, you must create at least one
NAS share on the system. After you create a NAS share, you can configure your backup
application to back up data to the share.
Use the following procedure to set up a basic NAS share.
I
Do not use this procedure if you are using OST to perform backups. Instead, see
"NAS configuration" on page 96.
I
This procedure assumes you are creating a NAS share in a Windows environment.
Refer to the ETERNUS CS800 User Guide.
1. Log on to the ETERNUS CS800 remote management pages:
see "Accessing the Web GUI" on page 94
2. Join the ETERNUS CS800 to the Windows domain used by your backup application:
I
This procedure assumes access to your CS800's NAS media is controlled via a
simple Access Control List (Workgroup model). If you want to manage CS800
NAS access via Active Directory, please consult your CS800 User Guide.
a) From the contents frame, click the Configuration menu.
The NAS & OST page displays.
b) From the NAS & OST page, click the Windows Domain tab.
The Windows Domain page displays (see figure 72).
