enables you to use your handset for receiving or sending
short alphanumeric messages (texts, numbers). You can send messages
to individual users or to groups. In specific cases, the calling number of a
user may deviate from his telephone number.
The messages are fixed pre-defined texts, e.g. «Call text». When needed,
you may add any digits up to the max. message length. The list of fixed
texts is available from your system administrator.
Performance check for the sender:
The sender receives a confirmation if message transmission was
successful.
If the message contained a request for a manual acknowledgement and
the receiver has acknowledged manually, the sender receives this
acknowledgement in addition. Examples: POS !<Call text> or NEG !<Call
text>.
The last 10 messages are saved in the system message list and the last
20 messages in the «Incoming msg.» message list of the handset.
Note:
During reception of a message and during a possibly required manual
acknowledgement, an existing call remains active. The called party hears
the signalling of the message.
Example: User A and user B are holding a telephone conversation. User A
receives a message along with an attention signal.
The voice connection remains intact while the message is transmitted and
during any necessary manual acknowledgement by user A. The handset
microphone of user A remains on so that user B can hear what happens
around user A.
The conversation can be continued after signalling and acknowledgement
are complete.

The messaging functions are available only with a Mobility Server which
has a Message Server connected. The Message Server is a supplement
for your Mobility Server.
