13. Troubleshooting and support
This section provides information to help you diagnose and solve various problems that may arise
while configuring or using your GE Security product and offers technical support contacts in case you
need assistance.
Troubleshooting your system
Problem Possible reasons
POWER LED on front panel does not
light up when the TVR 40 is turned on,
and the fan does not work.
TVR 40 is not connected to the power supply. Check that the power cable
is plugged into the TVR 40.
TVR 40 is not switched on. Check that the power switch on the back
panel is switched on.
The power cable is plugged in and
power is switched on. The POWER LED
on front panel is green but fan does not
work.
Front panel on/off power button is not working.
The fan is broken. The TVR 40 must be sent in for repair.
Please contact your local supplier.
The TVR 40 continuously reboots after
start up, and makes an audible alarm
every 10 seconds.
The wrong firmware has been used in the upgrade.
TVR 40 has hardware problems and must be sent in for repair.
Please contact your local supplier.
When using V
OUT
no images appear on
the monitor when TVR 40 is turned on.
The cable connected to the monitor is damaged. Check the cable.
TVR 40 has hardware problems. Please contact your local supplier.
The system cannot find the hard disk in
reboot process.
The HDD cable is damaged.
The power cable of the hard disk is not connected.
The HDD is damaged.
Please contact your local supplier.
No response from the HyperTerminal
interface.
The Baud rates of the TVR 40 and PC are different.
RS-232 cable is damaged.
The serial port of the PC is damaged.
RS-232 port of the DVR is damaged.
Please contact your local supplier.
TVR 40 cannot control the PTZ through
the RS-485 port.
RS-485 cable is incorrectly connected or is damaged. Check the cable.
PTZ parameter error. PTZ settings are incorrect and should be checked.
RS-485 port of TVR 40 is damaged. Please contact your local supplier.
Client software cannot view the TVR 40
live image.
Network error. Please contact your IT manager.
DVR incorrectly configured (for example, incorrect IP, port number,
username or PIN, etc).
Old version of client software. Please contact your local supplier.
