used for this. Reconnect reagents and start the analyzer. The analyzer
should now respond to the standard.
5. The delivery rates (mL/min) of all pumps can be verified against the
hardware configuration table using water instead of acid and persulfate.
This should not be done with acid and persulfate in the analyzer. Use a
small measuring cylinder to measure how much water is taken from the
cylinders. This is more accurate than measuring the delivery from the
pump, because undetected downstream blockages (not in the flow path)
could affect the results.
8.2.2 Instrument is Unstable or Drifts
1. Check for proper installation of electrical input wiring.
2. Check nitrogen flow rate for stability.
3. Check gas calibration (see section 7.9 on page 121).
4. Pinched or incorrectly installed pump tubing.
8.2.3 Periodic Spikes in the Readout
Verify that large particles are not being introduced into the reactor. Large
particles in the sample will cause periodic spikes in the readout. Homogenize
and/or filter the sample adequately. At elevated temperatures, persulfate
bubbles can also cause dips followed by spikes in the output, do not exceed
the molarity specified in Section 3 on page 49.
