Removing and replacing Tier 2 CRUs
You may install a Tier 2 CRU yourself or request IBM to install it, at no additional
charge, under the type of warranty service that is designated for your server.
The illustrations in this document might differ slightly from your hardware.
Removing the hot-swap power supply cage
This procedure applies only to the 5U server model with hot-swap power supplies.
To remove the hot-swap power-supply cage from the 5U server model with
hot-swap power supplies, complete the following steps.
1. Read the safety information in “Safety” on page vii and “Installation
guidelines” on page 35.
2. Turn off the server and all attached devices; then, disconnect all power cords
and external cables.
3. Unlock and remove the side cover (see “Removing the side cover” on page 38).
4. Remove the hot-swap power supplies (see “Removing the hot-swap power
supply” on page 263).
5. Carefully turn the server on its side so that it is lying flat, with the system
board facing up.
Attention: Do not allow the server to fall over.
6. Disconnect the cables from the power-supply cage to the system board and all
internal components. Rotate the hard disk drive cage out of the chassis to
remove the power cable from the backplane.
