5. FRB TIMEOUT DETECTION
The FRB function is implemented with IPMI Watchdog Timer. The BMC supports IPMI
Watchdog Timer Commands.
The following is the behavior of FRB2 function.
5.1 FRB2 STARTED FROM SYSTEM RESET
1. BIOS send the IPMI watchdog timer command to BMC for starting Watchdog Timer of
FRB2. And then, BIOS continues the POST process. The default Watchdog Timer of FRB2
is set to 300 sec by BIOS. Please refer to BIOS firmware specification for FRB2 function.
2. In order to prevent the Watchdog Timer for FRB2 from expiring, BIOS has to reset the
watchdog countdown within appropriate time interval.
3. Finally, BIOS has to stop the Watchdog Timer of FRB2 when the POST is successfully.
5.2 WHEN FRB2 TIMEOUT HAPPENED
The mean of FRB2 failure is last system reset or power cycle was due to the system (BIOS)
start-up timeout during POST. If the timeout event was resulted from FRB2, BMC will do action
while sets by BIOS. Also, the FRB2 event will be logged into SEL.
