CAUTION: Damage can occur if you aempt to install a fan module into a chassis with
a dierent airow direcon. Compare the switch product variant with the airow
marking on the handle to ensure that you are installing a fan module with the same
airow direcon as the chassis. The fan modules are designed so that they can only be
inserted into the QFX5240 product variant that supports the same airow type. See
"QFX5240 Power System" on page 28 for more informaon.

A QFX5240 power supply unit (PSU) is a hot-removable and hot-insertable eld-replaceable unit (FRU).
You can replace power supplies without powering o the switch or disrupng the switching funcon.
Remove a Power Supply Unit from QFX5240 Switches
We ship the QFX5240 switches from the factory with two power supplies.
Before you remove a PSU from QFX5240 switches, ensure that you have taken the necessary
precauons to prevent electrostac discharge (ESD) damage.
Ensure that you have the following parts and tools available to remove a PSU from a QFX5240 switch:
ESD grounding strap
Anstac bag or an anstac mat
1. Place the anstac bag or the anstac mat on a at, stable surface.
2. Aach the ESD grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to the ESD point on the
chassis.
