E4990A Help
44
Through this procedure, you will configure
parameters that apply to both Traces, A and B. You can set
each parameter without specifying the active trace or checking
its current settings.
Initialize the E4990A to the Preset State
Press the Preset key to initialize the E4990A.
This puts the E4990A into its preset state.
If you turn on the E4990A with a power-on setting
file residing on the flash memory (nonvolatile memory disk), the
file is automatically loaded, and the settings contained in the file
are restored. Initializing the E4990A to its preset state ensures
that no specific settings are inherited from the last
measurement session. Therefore, you should initialize the
E4990A by pressing the Preset key whenever you are
configuring it for a new measurement session, regardless of
whether you turned the instrument off and back on after the
previous session.
Note that initializing the E4990A with the Preset key
does not affect which type of adapter the instrument is
configured to use. Once you have set the adapter type, the
setting is retained until you select another adapter type.
Select Fixture
1. Press the Cal key to display the Cal Compen (Calibration
Compensation) menu.
2. Select the 16047E test fixture by clicking Accessory > 16047E.
Select |Z|-Theta as the Measurement Parameter
To select the measurement parameter, follow these steps:
1. Press the Meas > Measurement key to display the Measurement menu.
2. Ensure that the |Z|-
z key is selected for Trace 1 & 2 (this key is
selected by default in the preset state). With this selection, Trace 1
reflects the absolute impedance value while Trace 2 reflects the
impedance phase.
Select Frequency in Log as the Sweep Parameter
1. Press the Sweep Setup key to display the Sweep Setup menu.
2. At Sweep Type softkey, select Log Freq (Logarithmic Frequency).
Set the Sweep Start/Stop Value
1. Press the Start key. The current setting of the sweep start value
appears at the Start parameter.
