8.2.1 Safety measures
Before starting work, note the following:
– All safety measures for normal elevator maintenance must be implemented and local
safety re
gulations must be followed.
– Before entering the pit, ensure that the pit safety device is activated.
For more information, see APPENDIX D. Safety devices in the pit.
– Use the manual releasing device carefully because the
elevator will accelerate
very quickly to a high speed.
8.2.2 Checking the cleanness of the machine
Check visually the overall condition of the machine module:
– Machine should be clean of dust.
– No visual damage nor external object
s
should exist.
– The brake wire routing should be intact.
– Machine covers and the brake rubber cover should be in go
od condition.
Clean the machine if needed. Remove the external objects if ones exist. Correct the fixing of
brak
e wire if needed.
