Use only low sulfur or sulfur-free fuel
to prevent engine damage.
Be sure to ll the fuel tank daily to
avoid condensation in the tank.
Only refuel when the engine is not
operating and has cooled. Leaked or spilled fuel can
ignite on hot engine parts and cause serious burns.
Make sure the engine load is at least
15 percent. Operating the engine at no load or very
low load for extended periods can impair engine
performance.
Check the following items before starting the engine:
Check the engine oil level. (Page 5-5)
Check ush tank level. (Page 4-21)
Check the fuel level. The fuel ller cap is located
above the engine. Also check fuel lines and fuel
tank for any leaks or damage.
NOTE: If equipped with the optional Hatz diesel
engine, skip over to Page 4-6.
STARTING THE ENGINE
Before operating the tack distributor, make sure the unit
is secured so it does not roll or move during operation.
Wheel chocks specially for the distributor tires are
available for purchase from your authorized dealer.
(Page 4-26)
Consult your engine manual for additional information.
Using starting additives such as ether
is not recommended.
NEVER start the engine unless there
is asphalt or ush material in the system. Running
a dry pump will cause pump failure and void the
warranty.
DO NOT operate the unit if there are
any leaking or damaged parts.
NEVER operate the distributor in
closed-off or poorly ventilated areas. Toxic engine
exhaust gases can lead to loss of consciousness,
injury, or even death.
Ensure others are well clear of the
area before starting the engine.
