To accurately check the engine lubrication oil level:
1. Park the distributor on a level surface.
2. Clean around the engine lubrication oil dipstick, then
remove it from the engine. (Figure 5-1 on previous
page.)
3. Wipe the dipstick with a clean cloth, then reinsert.
4. Pull dipstick out of the engine and check that oil
level is near the full mark on the dipstick.
If the oil level is below the ADD mark, add oil,
checking the level by reinserting the dipstick.
DO NOT OVERFILL.
5. When lled to the correct level, reinstall oil ller cap.

Drain the oil while the engine is warm as it will drain
more quickly and completely. To change the oil:
1. Place a container that has sufcient capacity to
hold the drained oil directly under the oil drain plug.
(Figures 5-1 and 5-2 on previous page.)
2. Unscrew and remove oil drain plug. Allow the used
oil to drain completely.
3. Reinstall the oil drain plug.
4. Remove the oil ll cap.
5. Rell the engine oil with one (1) quart (.94 liters) of
oil.
6. Reinstall the ller cap. Crank engine and idle, then
check oil level. Add more oil if needed.

If equipped with the optional diesel engine system, you
will also need to clean the oil lter when changing the
engine oil.
1. Follow Steps 1 - 4 above.
2. Using an allen wrench, loosen the oil lter screw by
approximately ve turns. (Figure 5-3)
3. Pull the oil lter out of the housing, then blow out the
lter inside and out with compressed air.
ALWAYS wear safety goggles when
using compressed air.
4. Check the gasket for damage and replace if
needed. Lightly oil the gaskets before mounting.
5. Reinsert oil lter completely. Before tightening the
screw, ensure the tension springs rest against the
oil lter at both ends, then retighten.
6. Rell the engine oil with one (1) quart (.94 liters) of
oil.
7. Reinstall the ller cap. Crank engine and idle, then
check oil level. Add more oil if needed.
