Figure 4-26. Break-Away Test Button
Test Break-Away system.
The Break-Away switch cable runs along the safety
chains. ALWAYS TEST THE BREAK-AWAY SYSTEM
BEFORE TOWING. Your trailer brakes must be
operational for this system to work. To test the system:
1. Press the green button on the Break-Away box to
check battery charge as shown in Figure 4-26. A
light will illuminate beneath the green test button
depicting the charge level:
• If the green lights illuminates, the unit is fully
charged.
• If the amber light illuminates, the battery is
charging.
• If the red light illuminates, the battery charge is
low. Connect the trailer plug to the tow vehicle
so the vehicle’s battery can charge the unit. The
unit’s battery should recharge in 20 minutes.
NOTE: The Break-Away unit charges automatically
when the vehicle is in use.
2. With the unit’s battery charged, pull rmly on the
Break-Away switch cable, which should activate the
trailer’s electric brakes.
3. Connect the break-away cable on the safety chain
to the tow vehicle’s auxiliary power connector.
(Figure 4-25)
DO NOT tow the distributor without
engaging the Break-Away safety system.
OPTIONS
In-Cab ControlIn-Cab Control
The optional in-cab control is a simple ON/OFF switch
mounted on a hand grip that allows the operator to spray
tack through the spray bar system from inside the cab
of a truck. The option is an added convenience when
using the optional spray bar system. An electrical cable
connects the control switch to the spray bar system and
is easily rewound onto its mount after use (included in
the assembly). (Figure 4-27)
When using the electrical heating
system, use a plug protected by a Ground Fault
Interrupt (GFI) circuit.
Figure 4-27. In-Cab Control
To use the in-cab control:
1. Unroll and extend the electric cable to the inside of
the truck cab, being careful there is not too much
slack.
2. Ensure the in-cab control is set in the center
position.
3. Open the desired nozzle valves on the spray bar (or
all valves if needed).
4. Open the spray bar valve.
5. From inside the truck cab, ip the switch to the
SPRAY position to begin spraying tack material,
moving the truck forward as needed.
