 Danger!
Unexpected start−up of the machine possible
The "Safe torque off" safety function provides protection against
an unexpected start−up of the drive and therefore is an
important item within the safety concept for a machine. It has to
be ensured that this function works correctly.
Possible consequences:
Æ’ Death, severe injury, or damage to material assets, when the
safety function fails.
Protective measures:
After the installation and at regular intervals, the operator has to
check the function of the "Safe torque off" circuit.
Æ’ When doing this, check both disconnecting paths separately
with regard to their disconnection capability.
Æ’ The functional test can be carried out manually or
automatically via the PLC.
Æ’ Basically the inspection interval depends on the application
and the corresponding risk analysis, as well as on the system
as a whole. It should not exceed 1 year.
Æ’ If the functional test shows impermissible states,
– the drive or the machine has to be shut down immediately.
– commissioning is not permitted until the safety function
operates correctly.
