8.9.3 Lubricating the hoist rope
Grease, spare
parts and tools
– Brush, roller, spray gun, tray or pressure pump.
Lubricating
the
rope
– Lubricating the rope
– significantly prolongs its service life and
– keeps the friction between the rope, the sheaves and the hoist drum as
low as possible.
The lubricant is applied to the rope by
– spraying, brushing, rolling or
– by running it through a tray filled with lubricant or
– by means of high-pressure lubrication with a pressure pump.

Manitowoc Crane Group Germany GmbH recommends high-pressure
lubrication with a pressure pump (GROVE part no. 90018525) for reasons of
sustainability, efficiency and environmental protection.
When lubricating the hoist ropes, observe the instructions concerning the
lubricant.
When using the pressure pump, observe the manufacturer's separate
operating instructions.
