Forward Gear
1. Apply SuperDutyGearLubricanttoO.D.ofrace.
Installforwardgearbearingraceintohousingus-
ing Mandrel 91-36571 and propeller shaft. Use a
leadhammeronpropshaftto prevent damageto
threads. Bearing carrier should be installed to
keep prop shaft centered while seating race.

NOTE: Remove drain plug/magnet assembly from
gear case (if installed) to prevent possible breakage
of magnet if struck by forward gear.
1. Install forward gear and bearing assembly into
forward gear race.

Pinion Gear/Drive Shaft Assembly
1. Clean pinion nut and pinion nut threads of drive
shaft with Loctite Primer T (92-59327-1).
2. Position pinion bearing into race while installing
drive shaft and pinion gear into housing.
3. Apply Loctite 271 (92-809819) to pinion nut
threads.
4. Installnewpinionnut,withroundedcornersFAC-
ING pinion gear, onto drive shaft.
5. Using Drive Shaft Holding Tool (91-825196) to
holddriveshaft,torquepinionnutto50lb.ft.(67.8
N·m).
