WhatisSelectiveCatalyticReduction(SCR)?
YourMILLERmachineisequippedwithadditionalcomponentstocomplywithnationalandlocalexhaustemissions
requirements.ThemaincomponentsoftheSCRsystemincludetheSCRcatalyst,theDieselOxidationCatalyst
(DOC),theDEF/ADBLUE®supplymodule,andtheDEF/ADBLUE®tank.
HowdoesSelectiveCatalyticReduction(SCR)work?
Duringcombustion,harmfulnitrogenoxide(NOx)moleculesareformedintheexhaust.ByinjectingaDEF/ADBLUE®
solutionintotheexhaustpriortoacatalyst,theNOxcanbeconvertedtoharmlesselementalnitrogenandwater.This
happenswhentheNOxmoleculesreactinsidethecatalystwiththeheatgeneratedbytheengineandtheureainthe
DEF/ADBLUE®solution.TheDOCisusedtomaximizetheSCRcatalystefciencybymaintaininga50/50ratioof
nitricoxide(NO)andnitrogendioxide(NO
2
)priortoexhaustgasesenteringtheSCRchamber.
NOTICE:Donotidlethemachinewithnoloadformorethan6h,ordamagetotheSCRcatalystwilloccur.
Duringcoldengineoperationatlowenginecoolantandambientairtemperatures,watervaporwillbevisiblefromthe
exhaust.Thiswatervaporwillresemblesteamorlightwhitesmoke,andwilldissipateastheengineandmachine
componentswarm.Thiswatervaporisconsiderednormal.
NOTE:Afterengineshutdown,theSCRsystemwillperformapurgecycle,whichpermitsthesupplymoduletocon-
tinuetorunforupto90seconds.Thisisconsiderednormalandrequiresnoactionfromtheoperator.
