Removal procedure
Removal: Main bearing caps
• The main bearing cap on the rearmost part is located by locating
pins. Use a slide hammer to remove it.
Removal: Front oil seal slinger
• Taking care not to damage the crankshaft, split the slinger using
a chisel or a similar tool.
Removal: Ring
• Taking care not to damage the crankshaft, split the slinger using
a chisel or a similar tool.
Removal: Crankshaft gear
CAUTION
• Do not tap off the crankshaft gear as this can damage it.
Inspection procedure
Inspection: Main bearing
(1) Main bearing span when free
• If the measurement less than the limit, replace the upper and
lower bearings as a set.
CAUTION
• Do not attempt to manually expand the bearings.
