Ramp Retraction
WARNING
NEVER attempt to retract the ramp while an occupant is still
on the ramp.
REASON: The ramp is not designed to be used as a lift.
A person on the ramp during retraction could roll or fall off
the ramp and serious personal injury or death could occur.
CAUTION: There should not be any weight on the ramp
while it is retracting.
REASON: The ramp is not designed to retract with
weight on it. Additional weight on the ramp during retraction
could cause damage to the electrical and mechanical
components of the ramp. Any damage incurred by improper
use will not be covered under warranty.
CAUTION: Make sure the ramp surface is clean and free
of sand, rocks and other debris before starting the retraction
procedure.
REASON: Foreign objects retracted into the ramp
deployment mechanism could cause damage to the ramp.
NOTE: An audible chime will sound five times and the
ramp indicator light will flash five times if shifting out of park
is attempted while the ramp is deployed.
Press and hold the IN portion of either Ramp Deploy
rocker switch located on the door, or if equipped, the one
located inside the vehicle between the front and rear doors
on the right side. The ramp will rise off the ground and
begin to retract horizontally and an audible chime will
sound.
CAUTION:
If the ramp stops retracting, try to deploy the
ramp and then attempt retraction again. If the ramp will not
retract or deploy, do not continue to press the ramp IN and
OUT switches. Either retract the ramp manually by following
the Ramp Retraction - Mechanical Override procedure on
page 119 or have the vehicle towed to an authorized MV-1
Service Center.
REASON: Continuing to press the IN and OUT portion of
the switch when the ramp is not working could cause
damage to the electrical and mechanical components of the
ramp. Any damage incurred by improper use may not be
covered under warranty.
The fences, including the one at the top of the ramp, will
automatically lower to a stowed position.
Continue to hold the IN portion of the rocker switch until
the ramp is fully retracted. The audible chime will switch
off when the ramp is fully retracted.
If the ramp will not retract fully, re-deploy it and check for
rocks or other debris on the ramp surface, especially
where the fences fold down.
Shut the right rear door so the vehicle can be put into gear.
NOTE:
The vehicle will not be able to be shifted out of
park unless the ramp is in a stowed position.
