CBE (Control-By-Event) is a software function that provides a means to program a
variety of output responses based on various initiating events. The control panel
operates Control-By-Event (CBE) through 99 Software Zones with the following
features:
• Each input point (detector, monitor module) can list up to five Software Zones
• Each output point (control/relay module, NAC) can list up to five Software Zones
• Output points can list zone Z00 (general alarm)
• Non-Alarm or Supervisory points do not activate Software Zone Z00 (general
alarm)
Input and output devices with CBE-listed Software Zones work as follows:
Figure 85 shows an example of CBE, where monitor module D101 lists zone Z05 and
Z04, and control module 108 lists zone Z05 and zone Z07.

When monitor module 1M101 activates, the following CBE takes place:
1. Zone Z05 activates.
2. Control/relay module 1M108, and all NACs connected to 1M108, activate.
These devices Operate as follows
Inputs (detectors,
monitor modules)
When an input device activates, so do all Software Zones listed to the
input device.
Outputs (control/
relay modules and
NACs, and Panel
Circuits)
When a Software Zone activates, the output device turns on.
