This removes dust adhering to the CCD sensor by applying
ultrasonic vibrations to the filter on the front surface of the
sensor for approximately one second. Set [Start-up Action] to O
(On) to turn the Dust Removal function on every time the
camera is turned on. (The default setting is O.)
Raise the mirror up and open the shutter to clean with a blower.
If you use the Dust Alert function to detect dust on the sensor
within 30 minutes before the sensor cleaning, the Dust Alert
image appears on the monitor to enable you to check the
location of dust.
Because the CCD sensor is a precision part, it is recommended
that you contact PENTAX Service Center for professional
cleaning. Cleaning services involve a fee.
Caution
• Do not clean the sensor when the mode dial is set to p.
• Do not use a spray type blower.
• Use a brush-less blower to remove dirt and dust from the CCD
sensor. Using a blower with a brush may scratch the sensor. Do
not wipe the sensor with a cloth.
• Sensor cleaning cannot be performed when the battery level is low.
Use the AC adapter kit K-AC50 (optional) or load a fully charged
battery. If the battery capacity becomes low during cleaning, a
warning beep will sound. Please stop cleaning immediately.
• Do not put the tip of the blower inside the lens mount area. If the
power is turned off, this could damage the shutter, CCD sensor or
the mirror.
Memo
• The self-timer lamp blinks and [Cln] appears on the LCD panel
during sensor cleaning.
You can select the SD Memory Card in the SD1 or SD2 slot and
format it.
Caution
• Do not remove the SD Memory Card while formatting. The card
may be damaged and become unusable.
• Formatting an SD Memory Card deletes all images including
protected images.
