4) Connect Communication Wiring
See Appendix B for detailed wiring
instructions for a specific COM card.
5) Network Topologies
The following sections only pertain to the
networking and real-time data collection of
temperature data from the BriteSpot® Plus.
This section is intended for those planning
to connect the BriteSpot Plus conversion
module to a SCADA network. The BriteSpot
Plus unit can only support one type of
Modbus interface for a given configuration.
a. RS-485 MODBUS RTU Network Topology
This topology is usually referred to
as a daisy chain in that each unit is
connected sequentially along a data
bus, which minimizes the stub length
and is preferable to the multi drop
topology. The flexibility of the system
allows for one data bus to communicate
with up to 31 units. If more than 31
units are required, an additional data
bus must be added.
Each BriteSpot Plus unit is capable of
supporting a number of Powell slave
devices such as the Modbus Current
Sensor or the EcoVisor™.
