Congratulations on your purchase of a Powerware’ Plus 80 Uninterruptible
Power Supply! Your Plus 80’s online power protection will keep you from
losing valuable information due to unexpected power problems.
The Powerware Plus 80 Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) continually monitors
incoming electrical power and removss the surges, spikes, sags, and other
irregularities that are inherent in commercial utilii power. Working with your
building’s electrical system, the Plus 80 will supply the clean, consistent power that
your sensitive electronic equipment requires for reliable operation. And during
brownouts, blackouts, and other power interruptions, one or more optional battery
cabinets can provide emergency power to safeguard your critfcal data.
Your UPS will function automatically and require very tiie attention during normal
operation. However, you should read and understand the procedures described in
this book to ensure trouble-free operation. In partiwlar~you should be thoroughly
familiar with the Load Off procedure, described on page 51.

In this book, the term UPS refers only to the UPS cabinet and its internal elements.
The term UPS system refers to your entire power protection system-the UPS
cabinet and any options or
accessories you have instatled. As internal UPS
components, the recttfier and inverter together are referred to as the power
prvcessirig unit (PPU) of the UPS.
