Looking Inside the UPS
The Powerwaree Plus 80 is a continuous duty, solid state UPS that supports your
equipment-such as process control equipment, computers, data processing equipment,
telecommunications/PSX systems, or research or medical equipment-through
interruptions in commercial uttlky power.
In this book, the power required by your equipment is called your critical loed. The UPS
supplies your critical load with conditioned power that is synchronized wkh your utility
power. Figure 2 shows the main elements of the UPS.

If utility power is interrupted or tatts outstde the parameters
specifed
in Chapter 10. the
UPS uses a

supply to sustain power to your crttical load for a speckled
period of time or until me utility power returns.
For extended power outages, the backup
battery supply allows you to either transfer to an alternative power system (such as a
generator) or shut down
your
aihcat
load in an orderly manner.
