The many standard features of your UPS provide you with consistent,
economical. dependable power protection. In addition, you can add available options
and accessories to enhance the performance of your UPS system. This chapter provides
detailed descriptions of some of the features and options introduced earlier in this book.
5 Building alarm monitoring
This standard feature lets you connect the UPS to your building alarms, such as smoke
detectors or over-temperature alans. The terminals for external connections are located
inside the UPS on the customer interface panel (see Figure 19).

Using the RS239C wmmunicatfons pm’t, you can use a remote terminal to disable or
enable the alarms. You can connect up to six alarms. ft is suggested that you connect the
first three alama (pins 1,3. and 5) as they are labeled, and use the alarms labeled
‘Building Alarm’ (pins 7,9, and 11) in any wamu choose.
Generator transfer is to be used In conjunction with transfer switches to disable the input
filter, to faciliite generator operationFor example, if an external generator is supplying
power to the UPS inpuf you can use the alarm connected to pin 1 to alert you if the UPS is
supplied by the generator.
If enabled, me on generator current limit feature reduce me
