3.14 Adjusting the internal reference weight (SCS only)
Important: The internal reference weight has to be adjusted, after the weighing cell has been repaired, or the
linearity or the S-correction has been adjusted!
It is possible to vary the full load reference weight within particular step sizes which may be,
according to your actual balance, 10, 50, 100 or 500g. This allows an adjustment either with various
reference weights at disposal or close to the usual operating range of the balance.
Important:
Ensure the reference weight lays within the permitted range of ±0.3d of its nominal
value!
Example:
A 4200C of a customer, who usually weighs loads of 2.8 kg, asks for 2000g. Its
reference weight step size is 500g. A reference weight of 3000g (2000g +2 steps of 500g) is the
closest to the usual operating range. Place such a reference weight if its mass lays within the range
of 2999.997g .. 3000.003g (maximum deviation = ±0.3d = ±0.003g at d=0.01g, see
specifications).
1. Ensure the balance has reached its operating temperature, is levelled and set to the service
mode according to chapter 3.8.
2. Have, according to the specifications, a suitable full load reference weight at disposal.
3.
Graphic version:
Hold TARE until the balance switches to the adjustment/calibration menu and
call up "Adjustment/Calibration";
10- and 5-key version:
Hold TARE until "CALIBRATION"/"ADJUSTMENT" appears. The balance
starts carrying out an internal adjustment without setting the obtained correction factors, starts
thereupon with the external adjustment and asks, as soon as the zero point is measured, for the
reference weight. Its value is displayed flashing.
4. Place the asked weight, or better, the one placed at disposal. The balance recognises its value
and the display flashes. As soon as the flashing stops, the balance asks for the zero point. This
is displayed flashing: "--0000 g".
5. Remove the weight. The balance continues with the external adjustment, determines newly the
correction factors for the internal reference weight, carries out immediately an internal
adjustment and finally turns itself off and on, in order to quit the service mode.
