Polarization Configuration
Uni Pol Antenna
The Uni Pol version antenna includes one Ctrl TNC connector, which connects to the
ACU. The STB is connected through the ACU. Using the ACU, the STB is configured to
operate with either Horizontal or Vertical polarization in either Low Band or High
Band.
Dual Pol Antenna
The Dual Pol version antenna includes three TNC ports, which connect to the ACU
and to up to three STBs, as follows:
Ctrl port - connects to the ACU, STB1 (the primary STB) connecting to the ACU
High-band port - connects to STB2 (a second STB)
Low-band port - connects to STB3 (a third STB)
The configuration is assisted by the operation of a polarization control box (Static
Dual BDC Box) in the antenna which, after the polarization of the first STB is selected,
automatically completes the configuration of the remaining STBs with an opposite-
pol configuration.
First the user configures STB1 with one of the following combinations:
Vertical High-band (VH)
Vertical Low-band (VL)
Horizontal High-band (HH)
Horizontal Low-band (HL)
Then the remaining STBs will be automatically determined, as follows:
If STB1 is set to a Vertical polarization (either VL or VH):
o STB2 (which is connected to the HB port), is automatically configured as
Horizontal High-band (HH)
o STB3 (which is connected to the LB port), is automatically configured as HL
If STB1 is set to a Horizontal polarization (either HL or HH):
o STB2 (which is connected to the HB port), is automatically configured as VH
o STB3 (which is connected to the LB port), is automatically configured as VL
