Chapter 8 Service
2104.6536.72 - 8.1 - E-1
1 Information
There are no parts inside the instruments that can be repaired by the customer. The local
Rohde & Schwarz representative must handle all service cases.
It is recommended to keep one or more replacement instruments on hand in order to be
able to continue transmitting if service is required. This chapter describes how to replace
an instrument and get the new instrument ready for operation quickly.
Replacing the fans and power supply
You may replace defective fans and the power supply modules for the amplifiers on your
own. The instruments were designed to allow replacements during ongoing transmission
operation. The associated instrument manual describes how to proceed.
1.1 Safety
Note Full information on the subject of safety can be found in the chapter "Safety".
1.2 Cabling the Compact Transmitter
In case of service work, it might be necessary to replace defective instruments. To make it
easier to set up the proper cabling between the transmitter instruments, each cable has a
yellow sleeve on its ends with the following information:
– Cable number (W...) along with the
– Module number (A...) and
– Connector number (X...) as target designation
This makes it easier to connect the cable in question to the proper slot or connection point.
