Chapter 3 Installation
2104.6536.72 - 3.9 - E-1
Note The interlock loop is only closed after (!) startup (see chapter "Commissioning" in the R&S
SCV8000x system manual) via X6 (TX CONTROL), after which the instrument can then
produce RF.
2.7 Connecting the User Interface
A PC/laptop can be connected to the exciter to allow convenient startup of the transmitter
on site.
Rohde & Schwarz recommends the use of an RJ-45 cable which complies with the CAT 7
specification.
1. Configure the network address for the PC as follows:
a) IP address = 192.168.057.xxx where xxx = 001 to 252
b) Subnet mask = 255.255.255.000
This means that the PC and R&S SX801 are on the same IP subnet (preset IP address
on R&S SX801 = 192.168.057.253).
2. On the PC, configure the browser so that JavaScript and Java are enabled.
Communication via PC requires the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) from SUN. As the
minimum requirement for the PC, Java Platform Standard Edition in version 1.5 or higher
must be installed.
Note The "Operating" chapter describes how to go about configuring Microsoft Internet Ex-
plorer.
3. Connect the PC's network interface to X3 (ETHERNET LOCAL) on the exciter.
2.8 Notes on the AC Power Connection
Note Since the instruments do not have their own power switches for disconnection from the
power source, the connector in the connecting cable is considered as a disconnecting de-
vice. You should therefore make sure that the connector is within reach and easily acces-
sible at all times (length of connecting cable approx. 2 m). Function or electronic switches
are not suitable for disconnecting the AC supply. If the transmitter is integrated into racks
or systems, the power should be switched off at system level.
Please heed the connection data found in the following table.
