Chapter 3 Installation
2104.6536.72 - 3.8 - E-1
2.4.2 Systems with a Base and Extended Amplifier
Amplifier controller and signal connections
1. Connect X5 (AMP) on the exciter (and any existing standby exciter) and X11 (AMPL
CONTROL) on the base and extended amplifiers using the included 15-pin ribbon cable.
2. Connect the RF output of the exciter X60 (RF OUT) to the RF input of the base amplifier
X10 (RF IN 1).
3. In a system with a standby exciter, also connect its RF output X60 (RF OUT) to the sec-
ond RF input X110 (RF IN 2) of the base amplifier.
4. Connect the splitter output X15 (EXT AMP OUT) on the base amplifier to the RF input
X10 (RF IN 1) on the extended amplifier.
RF power connections
1. Connect the RF output X2 (POWER OUT) on the base amplifier to the combiner input
X34 (BASE AMP IN) on the extended amplifier.
2. On the extended amplifier, jumper X2 (POWER OUT) and X36 (EXT AMP IN) using the
included conduit clamp.
2.5 Connecting the Antenna System
In systems with one amplifier, connect the antenna system to the RF power output of the
amplifier X2 (POWER OUT).
In systems with two amplifiers, connect the antenna system to the RF power output of
the extended amplifier X2 (POWER OUT).
2.6 Preparing the RF Loop
Prepare the interlock loop system (if available) for connection to X6 (TX CONTROL).
If no interlock loop devices are available in the transmitter system (only permissible with
low power), have the supplied short-circuit connector at the ready.
WARNING!
Risk of RF burns. Before connecting the antenna cable, make sure that the instrument
cannot produce any RF at the output.
WARNING!
Risk of RF burns. Before putting the instrument into operation, make sure that the avail-
able interlock loop systems are in use.
