b) Alternatively, supply the 1PPS signal from an external reference source via X23
(EXT 1 PPS).
2.3 Cabling the R&S SX801 Exciter for Analog TV
Inputs for analog TV
1. Connect the video signal to X22 (VF).
2. Feed audio signals according to signal type:
a) Connect the AF signals to X25 (AUDIO 1 and AUDIO 2).
b) NICAM: If an external NICAM coder is used, additionally connect the NICAM 728
data stream to X27 (NICAM DATA).
Separate feed of the NICAM 728 data stream is unnecessary if the NICAM coder in-
tegrated in the transmitter is used.
c) BTSC: As an alternative to a) and b), connect a multiplex signal to X26 (BTSC).
Reference signal
1. To increase frequency accuracy, connect an external reference source (5 MHz or 10
MHz) to X64 (EXT REF).
Note Alternatively, the seconds pulse from an external 1PPS signal (on X23) or the optional
internal GPS receiver (GPS antenna on X66) can be used as a frequency reference.
2.4 Internally Cabling the R&S SCV8000 Transmitter
2.4.1 Systems with One Amplifier
Amplifier controller and signal connections
1. Connect X5 (AMP) on the exciter (and any existing standby exciter) and X11 (AMPL
CONTROL) on the amplifier using the included 15-pin ribbon cable.
2. Connect the RF output of the exciter X60 (RF OUT) to the RF input of the amplifier X10
(RF IN 1).
3. In a system with a standby exciter, also connect its RF output X60 (RF OUT) to the sec-
ond RF input X110 (RF IN 2) of the amplifier.
