OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS | TIC
3.2.3 Components of the TIC501 system function
The TIC501 system function is designed for use in multi-lane, free-flowing traffic and for
traffic management applications and simple toll systems.
The TIC501 delivers higher number and classification accuracy in flowing traffic. In stop-
and-go traffic, the classification accuracy and the detection of speed and vehicle length is
reduced.
A TIC501 can detect several lanes (1 to 3) at the same time. Up to four TIC501 units
can run on a Traffic Controller TIC. The TIC501 system function therefore supports the
monitoring of several roads.
System components
A TIC501 consists only of one LMS511 type 2D LiDAR sensor and a Traffic Controller.

The customer will also require a power supply unit for the voltage supply. If several
TIC501 units are used, an Ethernet switch is required.
