Reset Software Slew Limit (Hours Beyond Meridian)
Use this group of controls to configure the mount’s software slew limit hour angle. For example, when a GEM is
tracking near the meridian, at what hour angle should tracking be halted to prevent the possible collisions or
equipment damage? Additionally, when commanded to slew from TheSky Professional, should the OTA switch
sides of the pier when the destination of a target object is on the opposite side of the meridian? See “Error!
Reference source not found.” on page Error! Bookmark not defined. for more information about this topic.
Hours Beyond Meridian Pop-Up Menu
The combination text box and pop-up menu, immediately to the left of the Set To This Value button, can be used
to either manually enter the “hour angle hours” for the software slew limit, or to choose from one of the default
values in the list. Click the Set To This Value button to permanently save this setting to the control system’s
firmware.
The table below lists the maximum hour angle for each Paramount Series model. The Paramount ME has
configurable “hard stop positions” (page 79) and the maximum hour angle depends on the position of the hard
stop bolts.
To save the slew limit settings:
1. Telescope window, Tools pop-up menu, Bisque TCS command.
2. On the Parameters tab, click the Commands pop-up menu, then Save All
Parameters To Mount.
The software slew limits must be reconfigured when the Restore Defaults command (page
121) is issued. You may wish to permanently record the software slew limit hour angle
setting so that it can be restored later.
