(2) Remove the timing belt at the back of the
mechanical deck from the pulley.

Be careful not to stretch or bend the removed
timing belt.
3. Capstan motor removal
(1) Disconnect the harness connected to the
board of the capstan motor. Be careful not to
lose the harness because it is used again.
(2) Remove the three screws at the top of the
mechanical deck while holding the capstan
motor from the back of the mechanical deck
assembly by hand.

Move the pinch arm or T3 guide arm to the
proper position and remove the three screws.
Be careful not to drop these screws on the
mechanical deck assembly.
(3) Remove the capstan motor from the back of
the mechanical deck assembly.
Installation
4. Capstan motor installation
(1) Pass a new capstan motor through the hole of
the mechanical deck assembly in the direc-
tion indicated by the figure and tighten it with
three screws.

Be careful not to damage the capstan shaft
when the new capstan motor is passed
through the hole of the mechanical deck
assembly.
(2) Connect the harness to the board of the
capstan motor.
