that are not recorded in music CD (music
compact disc) or VIDEO CD (video compact
disc) format, or do not contain MP3 (audio layer
3 of moving picture experts group) or JPEG
(joint photographic coding experts group) files
• Data part of CD-Extras (compact disc-extra)
• DVD-ROMs (digital video disc-read only
memory) that do not contain JPEG (joint
photographic coding experts group) files or are
not in DVD (digital video disc) Video format
• DVD (digital video disc) Audio discs
• DVD-RAMs (digital video disc, random access
memory)
• HD (high density) layer on Super Audio CDs
(super audio compact disc)
• DVD VIDEOs (digital video disc, video) with a
different region code (page 12)
• DVD-Rs (digital video disc-recordable, minus
R) recorded in VR mode (Video Recording
format)
• A disc recorded in a color system other than
NTSC (national television system committee),
such as PAL (phase alternation line)
Note on playback operations of DVD VIDEOs/
VIDEO CDs (digital video disc, video/video
compact disc)
Some playback operations of DVD VIDEOs/
VIDEO CDs (digital video disc, video/video
compact disc) may be intentionally set by software
producers. Since this recorder plays DVD
VIDEOs/VIDEO CDs (digital video disc, video/
video compact disc) according to the disc contents
the software producers designed, some playback
features may not be available. Also, see the
instructions supplied with the DVD VIDEOs/
VIDEO CDs (digital video disc, video/video
compact disc).
Region code (DVD VIDEO (digital video disc,
video) only)
Your recorder has a region code printed on the rear
of the unit and will only play DVD VIDEOs
(digital video disc, video) (playback only) labeled
with identical region codes. This system is used to
protect copyrights.
DVD VIDEOs (digital video disc, video) labeled
will also play on this recorder.
If you try to play any other DVD VIDEO (digital
video disc, video), the message “Playback
prohibited by region code.” will appear on the TV
screen. Depending on the DVD VIDEO (digital
video disc, video), no region code indication may
be labeled even though playing the DVD VIDEO
(digital video disc, video) is prohibited by area
restrictions.
Music discs encoded with copyright protection
technologies
This product is designed to play back discs that
conform to the Compact Disc (CD (compact disc))
standard.
Recently, various music discs encoded with
copyright protection technologies are being
marketed by some record companies. Please be
aware that among those discs, there are some that
do not conform to the CD (compact disc) standard
and may not be playable by this product.
Note on DualDiscs
A DualDisc is a two sided disc product which
mates DVD (digital video disc) recorded material
on one side with digital audio material on the other
side.
However, since the audio material side does not
conform to the Compact Disc (CD (compact disc))
standard, playback on this product is not
guaranteed.
