Operators
Type B connections require a "null-modem" cable to
connect two devices of the same logical type together.
Either two
DTE
devices or two
DCE
devices
can
be
made
to communicate
by
externally reversing the data
and
logic
lines
as
shown
in
the figures. A gender change
is
needed
for Type B
and
Type
B2
connections. For Type
B1
con-
nections, a gender change
is
needed
only to match up to
the null-modem cable connectors. Gender changing can
be
done with the null-modem cable if it
is
made
with the
correct gender connectors for the application.
