12 Fire Panel IRIS - Installation Manual
2.2.5 Loop Expander
The Loop Expander (Figure 16) realizes the connection between the Main Board and devices connected to
the communication line. The Loop Expander has two basic functions:
1. Gathers data from the devices in the communication line and transfers it to the Main Board.
2. Receives commands from the Main Board and transfers them to the devices connected in the
communication line.
In the configuration of analogue-addressable fire panel IRIS could be mounted two loop expanders, and thus
the maximum number of the addressable devices increases to 396.
To each loop expander could be connected up to 99 modules and 99 sensors. The maximum current con
-
sumption of the devices in the communication line is Imax = 700mA. If the consumption exceeds this value
an over-load protection would be turned on.

2 – Flat interface connector for connecting second loop expander.

Adding of second loop expander in the configuration of the fire panel IRIS
1 – Connect the flat interface connectors of the first and the second loop expanders.
2 – Fix the second loop expander with suitable bolts to the metal box of the fire panel.
