4.3.5.5 Bus Mode Function
TH2816B provides three Bus modes: GPIB, RS232 and iBIAS. Only one of the three
bus modes can be selected at the same time.
Perform the following steps to select the bus mode of TH2816B.
1) Move the cursor to the BUS MODE field, the following softkeys will be displayed.
GPIB
RS232
iBIAS
2) Press iBIAS. The RS232 interface is used to control the programmable DC bias
current source. (Such as TH1773 )
3) Press RS232. The RS232 interface is used to communicate with a computer as a
standard serial interface.
4) Press GPIB. The GPIB interface is used to communicate with computers and
other instruments as a parallel interface. (When the optional GPIB board is
equipped.)
4.3.5.6 GPIB address
TH2816B with GPIB interface can be controlled via the GPIB bus.

Perform the following steps to set the GPIB address.
1) Move the cursor to the GPIB ADDR field, the current address will be displayed
on the LCD. The default address is 8.
2) Input the new address from 0 to 30 using the numeric keys.
4.3.5.7 AutoFetch mode ON/OFF
When TH2816B is set to the auto fetch mode, TH2816B outputs the measurement
result after each measurement automatically.
Perform the following steps to set the Talk only mode.
1) Move the cursor to the Auto Fetch field, the current setting will be displayed on
the LCD. The following softkeys will also be displayed.

2) Use the softkeys to set the Auto Fetch mode to ON (Auto fetch) or to OFF (query
mode).
