A.Gearshaftsmustbefreeofroughsurfacesandexcessivewearatthe
bushingpointsandsealingareas.Replacethegearsifyoundany
scoring,roughsurfaces,orwearonthegearshafts.
B.Gearteethmustbefreefromexcessivescoringandwear.Replacethe
gearsifyoundbrokenornickedgearteeth.
C.Gearfaceedgemustbefreefromsharpness.Thesharpedgesofgears
willmillintothewearplates.Replacethegearsifyoundanysharp
gearfaceedge.
4.Inspectthewearplatesforthefollowing:
A.Bearingareasmustnothaveexcessivewearorscoring.
B.Faceofthewearplatesthatareincontactwiththegearsmustbefreeof
wear,roughness,orscoring.
C.Thicknessofthewearplatesshouldbeequal.
5.Inspectthefrontangeandrearcoverfordamageorwear.
AssemblingtheCuttingDeckMotor
Note:Whenassemblingthemotor,checkthemarkerlineoneachparttoensure
thatthepartsareproperlyaligned.
1.LubricatenewO-rings,pressureseals,andback-upgaskets,andwearplate
grooveswithathincoatofpetroleumjelly.Lubricateallotherinternalparts
freelywithcleanhydraulicuid.
2.Installnewsealsintothefrontange(Figure107)asfollows:
A.Presstheshaftsealintothefrontangeuntilitreachesthebottomof
thebore.
B.Installtheangewasherintothefrontangeandtheninstalltheretaining
ringintothegrooveofthefrontange.
C.Installnewdustsealsintothefrontange.Theinnerdustsealshould
havetheseallipandspringtowardtheinstalledretainingring.Theouter
dustsealshouldhavetheseallipandspringtowardtheoutsideofthe
motor.
3.Placethefrontange,sealsidedown,onaatsurface.
