IMPORTANT
Whenyouclamptheliftcylinderinavise,clamptheclevisendof
thecylinderheadonlytopreventdamage.
2.Mounttheliftcylindercorrectlyinavisebyclampingtheclevisendofthe
cylinderhead.Useaviseequippedwithsoftjaws.
3.Useaspannerwrench,rotatetheheadclockwiseuntiltheedgeofthe
retainingringappearsinthecylinderheadopening.Insertascrewdriver
underthebevelededgeoftheretainingringtostarttheretainingringthrough
theopening.Rotatetheheadcounterclockwisetoremovetheretainingring
fromthecylinderhead(item2inFigure131)andhead.
4.Removetheplugsfromtheports.Carefullytwistandpulltheshaftand
removetheshaftwithheadandpiston.
IMPORTANT
Clampingthevisejawsagainsttherodsurfacecoulddamagethe
rod.Whensecuringtherodinavise,clamptherodclevisonly.
5.Mounttherodcorrectlyinavisebyclampingontheclevisoftherod.Remove
thelocknutandpistonfromtherod.Carefullyslidetheheadofftheshaft.
6.RemovethecapsealandO-ringfromthepiston.Ifnecessary,removethe
wearringfromthepiston.
Note:Donotscratchordamagethepiston.
7.RemovetheO-ring,back-upring,wiper,andsealfromthehead.
Note:Donotscratchordamagethehead.
InspectingthePolarTracLiftCylinder
CAUTION
Useeyeprotectionsuchasgoggleswhenusingcompressedair.
1.Washalltheliftcylindercomponentsincleansolventanddrythemwith
compressedair.
2.Inspecttheinternalsurfaceofthecylinderheadfordeepscratches,
out-of-roundness,andbending.
Note:Replacethecylinderheadifitiswornordamaged.
3.Inspectthehead,shaft,andpistonforexcessivepitting,scoring,andwear.
Note:Replacethepartsiftheyarewornordamaged.
AssemblingthePolarTracLiftCylinder
1.Ensurethatalltheliftcylinderpartsarecleanbeforeassembly.
2.PutacoatingofcleanhydraulicuidonnewO-rings,back-upring,andother
seals,anddothefollowingsteps:
A.CarefullyinstallthecapsealandO-ringtothepiston.Ifremoved,install
thewearringonthepiston.
