IMPORTANT
Duringtheoperationofthemachine,ifthePTOshutsdownand
theconsoletemperaturewarninglightisilluminatedbecauseof
excessiveenginecoolanttemperature,avoidshuttingofftheengine.
Underthiscondition,pushthePTOknobdown,slowlydrivetoa
safeatarea,movethethrottlelevertotheSLOWposition,move
thetractioncontrolleversintotheNEUTRALLOCKposition,andset
theparkingbrake.Allowtheenginetobeidleforseveralminutes
whileitcoolstoasafelevel,andcheckthecoolingsystembefore
returningthemachinetoservice.
TestingthePTOSwitch
1.BeforeyoudisconnectthePTOswitchfortesting,ensurethatyoutestthe
switchanditscircuitwiringasaSCMinput;refertoStandardControlModule
(page5–3).
2.IftheSCMveriesthatthePTOswitchandcircuitwiringarefunctioning
correctly,thennomoreswitchtestingisnecessary.
3.IftheSCMdeterminesthatthePTOswitchandcircuitwiringarenot
functioningcorrectly,thentestthePTOswitchasfollows:
A.EnsurethatthekeyswitchisintheOFFpositionandlocatethePTO
switchfortesting.
B.DisconnectthemachinewireharnesselectricalconnectorfromthePTO
switch.
C.ThePTOswitchterminalsareidentiedasshowninFigure151.The
circuitryofthePTOswitchisshownintheCircuitLogicTable(page5–26).
Withtheuseofamultimeter(ohmssetting),testtheswitchfunctionsto
determineifthecontinuityexistsbetweenthevariousterminalsforeach
switchposition.Checkthecontinuitybetweentheswitchterminals.
D.ReplacethePTOswitchifnecessary.
E.IfthePTOswitchtestingiscorrectandthecircuitproblemstillexists,
checkthewireharness;refertotheElectricalSchematicsandWire
