1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthecuttingdeck,shutoffthe
engine,settheparkingbrake,andremovethekeyfromthekeyswitch.
2.Unlatchthehoodandraiseit.
3.RemovetheaircleanercomponentsasshowninFigure8andFigure9.
4.Examinetheaircleanerhousingandcoverforwearordamagethatcould
causepossibleairleaks.
IMPORTANT
Leaksintheairltersystemwillallowdirttoenterintotheengine
andcancauseseriousenginedamage.Ensurethatalltheaircleaner
componentsareingoodconditionandareproperlysecuredduring
installation.
5.Examinetheairinlethosesforwearordamage,replacethehosethatis
wornordamaged.
6.Inspectandreplacethedamagedhoodseals.
InstallingtheAirCleanerSystem
1.AssembletheaircleanersystemasshowninFigure8andFigure9.
A.Ensurethatthevacuatorvalve(item4inFigure9)ispointeddownafter
installation.
B.Ensurethattheinlethose(item7inFigure8)hasclearancearounditat
allthepointsafteryoucompleteinstallationofaircleaner.
C.Iftheserviceindicator(item1inFigure9)andnipplewereremovedfrom
thehousing,applysealanttothethreadsofthenipple,torquethenipple
to3.4N·m(30in-lb),andinstalltheserviceindicatorontothenipple.
2.Lowerthehoodandsecureitwiththelatches.
