Chapter 6: Using scene automation
The Y56K supports the AW’s scene automation engine, allowing the inclusion of Y56K settings when storing
and recalling scenes.
The Y56K utilizes two Motorola DSPs and uses optimized techniques to minimize the time it takes to load
effects and settings. The fastest DSP update occurs if the new scene alters one or two parameters per effect.
The next fastest update occurs when altering more than two parameters per effect, which resends the entire
effect setup to the DSP. The slowest update occurs when the new scene contains different effects (even just
deleting one), which completely reloads the DSPs.
Store and recall scene memory
Storing a scene on the AW causes the Y56K to save its current state (preset) with the stored scene,
Accordingly, recalling a scene on the AW causes the Y56K to load its corresponding preset, i.e. the preset
that was stored with the scene. When scene 00 is recalled, the Y56K will reset to its default preset of eight
empty effect chains.
The scene memories of Y56K are stored automatically as a part of the song data when a song is saved is on
the AW, and are recalled automatically when a song data is recalled on the AW.
Scene memory and preset
Y56K Main preset and all of the effect presets are saved internally on the Y56K itself. If the same Y56K card
is removed and installed in another Y56K-compatible product, these presets can be used on that product.
Scene memories that contain Y56K data are stored on the AW and are loaded to the Y56K when a song is
loaded. Therefore, removing the same Y56K card and installing it to another AW workstation will not trans-
fer these scenes. To transfer these scenes, the same song must be copied and loaded to the other AW work-
station as well.

e! When the AW is turned on or a song is loaded, the Y56K initializes to its default preset of eight
empty effect chains. If you wish the Y56K to keep its last state (preset) you need to store a scene containing
this state (preset) and recall this scene using either the scene recall buttons on the AW or the AutoMix func-
tion.
