7.3.6.4 Inspection and adjustment of front and rear brakes
●
Check the free clearance between the front and rear brake
lugs.
Warning
●
Grasp the brake lug to the grip. If feeling soft brake, check
whether there is air or oil leakage in the brake system. If so,
remove the air or overhaul the brake system.
7.3.6.5 Check front and rear brake pads
●
Operate the front brake several times.
Replace the brake pad in case of wear to the groove bot-
tom or thickness <1.5mm.
Refer to “Brake pad replacement”. → Page 94
Nonconforming → check the brake system for air or oil
leakage.
Free clearance: 8~25mm
7.3.6.6 Brake fluid check
●
Place the vehicle on flat ground.
●
Check whether the brake fluid level is below the lower limit.
If so, add brake fluid according to the following steps:
1. Oil cup cap bolt.
2. Sealing isolator.
3. Oil groove isolator.
4. Add brake fluid.
Note:
●
The vehicle body remain vertical when checking the brake
fluid.
●
When checking the brake fluid amount, rotate the handle-
bar until the master cylinder remains level.
Recommended DOT certified brake fluid specification: DOT4
Warning
●
The brake fluid will corrode paint surfaces and rubber parts.
If splashed, please immediately wipe clean.
●
Add brake oil of the same specification. Otherwise, the oil
seal in the master cylinder will be deformed, leading to oil
leakage and brake failure.
●
Do not mix and add other brake fluids, so as not to pro-
duce chemical changes, resulting in brake failure.
